Obsession for the 20th century

no need to specify that I am pretty sure I have landed in the wrong century. most of the things I like belong to the turn of last century. the beginning of 1900 with all the historical avantgarde shaping the aesthetics of an ideal world with all its romance that would have badly crushed in the war times. disaster after disaster and here we are with the new world. surely with the advantages of the digital platforms and the medicine progress but honestly very ugly considering what we have had 100 years ago. here is a selection of some amazing stuff I shot in wien..

The Church of Ultraviolence

Davide Giannella brings together 4 of the most passionate illustrator/graphic artists of the next decade: Di Salvo, Garner, Klefish, Maida. the silence at the le dictateur was almost religiuos. the images function like the éikóna which in greek means "to be similar". surely these 4 artists share an ucommon perception of the unknown. that very non-place of your soul.
it's where you would end up without knowing why and what the hell is going on. yes indeed it happens to all us to be in that place. need to be in touch with your own self to really understand what your vision is.
In the darkness there at the UV light installation space I made up my mind and ask myself some ?

what is violence? what is what we see? what do you feel exactly? where are your fears heading you?
and surely are you sure you really are here now?

ivano atzori was the only human on exhibit. using his body as a projection wall and engaging the public in a confrontational momentum.

The Sixties @ MUMOK

we had very little knowledge of swedish born claes oldenburg before we got to meet his art at Mumok. the sixties have still plenty of discoveries to offer and claes obsessions with oversized consumer goods and food shapes made me think CITYPOP is still a place to go.

The mumok has also a permanent exhibition of outstanding modern art: 9000 works from pop, abstract expressionism, fluxus, viennese actionism and nouveau realisme. better go check it out yourself.
