An Afternoon Nostalghia

these days I am (re)watching some of the movies that changed my life + I am discovering some crazy shit. from the 80's of course. here are some clips and photos of those lovely creatures..

the broken egg

uovo 2012 is gone with the club to club night @teatro parenti. I didn't see much of this edition but I liked what I saw and what I have heard. the william forsythe installation at triennnale was impeccable while I felt under siege @fabbrica del vapore where romeo castelletti and his 6 sons performed a 12 minutes piece where the youth imprisoned a willing father in a black sarcophagus. on his knees. praying to the wall.
the club to club night @teatro parenti was somehow frustrating. the acts were all top quality but the audience was maybe expecting more of a club atmos and therefore reacted swiftly. actress designed a hammerhead fish acquarium mood while spencer should have played at 3AM. the Italian trio O are an experiment to remember but still the highest point of the night was this singlehanded fan dancing like a 1996 gabber raver and screaming "sto impazzendo..sto impazzendo"

Marina's Method

with an unbeliavable long cue the marina abramovic's milan week started yesterday at pac. the serbian artist engaged us with her "method". all of the participants and curators wear the same white doctor dress and the public is "spying" the performers with the help of binoculars and telescopes. 2 hours given by the almost famous to the Goddess of performance art. "I give you an experience if you give me your time" -that is the statement translated by young curator eugenio viola who follows marina at every step.
well..tonight the show moves on @lia rumma gallery where marina will sign books narrating her own life and death while thursday there will be the projection of the documentary "the artist present" at the Apollo.
I must say one can only admire marina's life (and death)performance. so stubborn, so consistent and so eternal that we might want to accept this latest glamourous twist with the likes of sozzani, corbetta, novembre, capasa, miscetti, cabello, visconte amongst the performers. here in Milan, the city where it all started.

last thursday ivano came back from the countryside and indeed we celebrated him at brutto posse..just before that we enjoyed The Big Pink gig at Tunnel...can't tell you how it ended though!

La Cina è altro

We went to see "unforbidden city"at Macro Testaccio and ..there was some good stuff about China + the usual clichè. I kind of like the Gao Brothers (de)architectural vision of a transient society while I found very superficial most of the rest on show. Lu Fefei's narration of his roots and the birth control propaganda critique is somehow a revealing bio but China has indeed much more to say in 2012 and the show was quite diminutive considering the actual scenario.
